Some recent projects for Evelyn’s Gift
Safeline: We are pleased to have been able to support Safeline, a specialist charity for victims of sexual abuse, by providing materials and resources for their child therapy room in Warwick. After ordering lots of specialist items online, we made a trip to IKEA and filled the car with other items that the therapists had requested – lights, a play tent, storage boxes and more. We’d like to thank IKEA in Coventry for donating a beautiful tree-shaped lamp for us to pass on to Safeline. The room will now be decorated professionally and we look forward to visiting this wonderful charity again soon to see the transformation.
Bereavement support: We have put together and delivered more bereavement packs for local schools and to meet local need. We met with Niki Tolley who works with a number of primary schools in the role of Parent Support. Niki said, ‘Schools are very grateful to have been given a practical resource to pass onto families instantly to support them during their difficult time. The books are helping parents prepare to answer their child’s difficult questions at a time when they are also struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one. Parents also appreciate the directory signposting them to further support services.’ The packs in Warwick schools were funded by Warwick Court Leet and produced with guidance from Guy’s Gift.
CPR training: Thanks to all of the amazing volunteers at Warwick District Community First Responders more than 1950 local people have now been trained in CPR and essential life support skills! The CFRs are doing an incredible job, delivering free CPR/defibrillator training at many locations in our area. In January, we delivered training at Leamington Athletics Ground, Warwickshire College and St Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School. A few thank yous….
Thank you to all of the students and staff in Health and Social Care at Warwickshire College for raising money for Evelyn’s Gift through a raffle, tombola, sweet sales and a Guess the Name of the Bear.
We’d also like to extend our gratitude to Wellesbourne & District Lions, who donated a portion of their Santa Collection 2016 to Evelyn’s Gift; to John Taylor Funeral Service for donations from their charity memorial tree; and to everyone else who has kindly donated to our charity. We are humbled by people’s generosity and will continue to ensure that every penny is spent to make a genuine difference to people’s lives through little acts of kindness.
